'Marco Silva to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham amid Fulham concerns'

Fulham boss Marco Silva is in line to replace Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham manager this summer amid growing concerns at Craven Cottage.
Silva has been noted as being “next” for a move to a big club, thanks to the Whites’ brilliant performances this season.
Fulham are currently on course to better their highest ever Premier League points tally (53), with the team currently sat eighth in the table with 45 points.
The Cottagers are also still in with a chance to win their first ever major trophy and are set to face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday (29 March).
However, despite a brilliant season, Silva may be looking to move on from Fulham after four seasons in charge.
Fulham sell stars like Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joao Palhinha without replacing them
Silva has reportedly been shortlisted as a potential alternative to Postecoglou, alongside Andoni Iraola and Thomas Frank.
Bournemouth’s in-demand Spanish manager is one of Silva’s rivals for the job, but with the Cherries owner Bill Foley committed to backing his Iraola in the transfer market, it seems unlikely for him to make the move to Tottenham this season.
Whilst the Portuguese manager has made no comments on his immediate future, the former Hull City boss is known to be an ambitious manager.
A move from Watford to Everton in 2018 highlighted Silva’s willingness to take on roles which he thinks can boost his own career, even if that particular switch didn’t work out.
In the past two summer transfer windows, the 47-year-old has seen his two best players, Aleksander Mitrovic, and Joao Palhinha, sold for huge fees without being adequately replaced.
Silva made the point that selling the club’s best players each year was stifling the club’s progress [via The Standard] and there are concerns from within Fulham’s fanbase that if the current boss is not backed in the transfer market, he may look to move on to a club that can offer him the resources he wants and needs to go to the next level.
The former Everton boss has instead had to rely on cheap, or free signings in recent transfer windows and whilst he has had success in doing so, a glass ceiling will persist over Fulham‘s potential successes for as long as the club choose to remain frugal in their spending.
Tottenham offer resources required for ambitious Marco Silva
Time is seemingly running out for Postecoglou, who’s side has been riddled with injuries this season and have failed to match pre-season expectations.
Spurs finished fifth under Postecoglou in his first season at the club, but currently sit 14th in the Premier League.
With chairman Daniel Levy now reportedly looking at potential replacements, Silva’s ability to get the best out of a limited squad would be appealing, while the step up in resources for the Portuguese boss could temper the general frustrations big-name managers often feel under the Spurs ownership.

Whilst the current Spurs chairman is infamous for a perceived unwillingness when it comes to spending, the North London club still have a bigger budget to work with than their London counter-parts.
What’s more, Tottenham’s stature, stadium, and potential on-pitch performances all dwarf Fulham’s, making them a clear step-up for Silva should he choose to leave his current club this summer.
Despite Spurs’ poor season, they look set to make a number of transfer moves this coming transfer window with the aim of getting back to being a top Premier League side, which would undoubtedly appeal to Silva.
