Wolves want star Matheus Cunha to sign a new contract but a "mega money" offer could see him leave, according to Alex Richards.

The Brazilian striker has been linked with a move away, with Nottingham Forest emerging as the latest club expressing interest, alongside Arsenal.

However, The Mirror's deputy sports editor, Richards, suggested on X that Wolves remain firm in their stance that Cunha is "not for sale."

This position hasn't wavered despite speculation after the striker appeared to leave the pitch without applauding fans following their match against Chelsea.

Richards dubbed the incident "Clapgate" after the forward hit back at those claims on social media and said applauded the away fans.

Cunha has attracted significant interest from Premier League clubs during this stellar season. Football Insider revealed Arsenal are closely monitoring the forward after earlier contract talks have stalled.

Forest have also been linked with an ambitious move for the Brazilian, as they look to bolster their squad in a bid to secure Champions League football [Daily Mail].

Cunha has been instrumental for Wolves this season, scoring ten goals and providing four assists in just 21 league appearances, despite the team's struggles.

Adding to the speculation, manager Vítor Pereira recently criticised the striker publicly, stating that he "did not like his body language" following their 3-1 loss to Chelsea [Sky Sports].

The Brazil international remains Wolves' most vital attacking threat, and losing him this late in the window could have a devastating impact on their season. Even if a "mega-money" offer is received, the chances of finding a replacement who can replicate his contributions are slim.

Wolves must stand firm and resist selling Cunha, instead focusing on avoiding on their relegation battle, as they currently sit just above the drop zone on goal difference.
