Max Aarons has taken to social media to address the fans after his surprise move from Bournemouth to Spanish club Valencia.

The 25-year-old has joined the La Liga club on loan until the end of the season, with Valencia sitting dead last in the Spanish top flight.

Aarons joined Bournemouth from Norwich in the summer of 2023, making just 20 Premier League appearances as Andoni Iraola’s side achieved a club-record top-flight points tally of 48 to finish 12th.

He has struggled to make an impact this season as Bournemouth look set for an even better campaign, starting just two of his four appearances across all competitions, and failing to provide a goal contribution in his 130 minutes of action.

Aarons is set to become the first English-born player to represent Valencia, with Yunus Musah—born in the USA but a former England youth international—being the closest precedent.

Former West Brom manager Carlos Corberan took over at Valencia in December, with the side facing the very real threat of relegation.

Clearly intent on making more of an impact in Spain, Aarons took to Instagram to address his new fans, saying: “So happy to be here. A big second half of the season to come! AMUNT VALENCIA!”

Bournemouth’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Chelsea on Tuesday (January 14) leaves them just three points away from the Champions League spots.

Iraola’s side will make the long trip to fellow top-four hopefuls Newcastle on Saturday (January 18) as they seek to continue their fine form.
