Nottingham Forest moved up to third in the Premier League table following their 3-0 win over West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds made light work of the Hammers at the City Ground for their third win in a row and fourth game unbeaten.
Forest opened the scoring in the 27th minute through Chris Wood, the goal machine nodding home from close range for his eighth goal of the season.
Edson Alvarez was then sent off after two quickfire yellows to leave West Ham down to ten men by the break.
Forest then tightened their grip on the game on 65 minutes when Callum Hudson-Odoi curled a rolled free kick past Lukasz Fabianski and into the far corner.
City Ground cult hero Michael Dawson spoke about how comfortable the Reds were before making a brutal quip about how bad West Ham had been.
Michael Dawson ‘could have played in goal for Forest’ against West Ham
“It’s so comfortable for Nottingham Forest,” he told Sky Sports News.
“This has been such a poor performance from West Ham. I think I could have played in goal for Forest today.”
Ola Aina then made sure of all three points when he cut out an attempted chip from Jean-Clair Todibo before hammering a powerful effort into the top-right corner.
Dawson hailed the £40,000-a-week Forest ace, saying: “What a strike from Aina. Forest are in dreamland. However, it’s more terrible defending from West Ham.”
What next for Forest and West Ham?
Forest are next in action on Sunday 10 November when they host Newcastle United in a 2pm kick-off.
Meanwhile, West Ham – who are currently 14th in the table – host Everton on Saturday 9 November, 3pm kick-off.
