Chelsea won out against Brighton today in a pulsating encounter that had Cole Palmer once again at the centre of everything good for Enzo Maresca’s side.

Palmer helped himself to four goals in the opening 45 minutes to further underline his billing as one of the top players across the Premier League.

Palmer scored twice from open play, before netting a penalty and a stunning free-kick to give a performance of the weekend.

Of course, Palmer’s stock has been on the rise ever since he made the move to Chelsea and this season he seems to have gone up yet another gear, somehow.

Today, Palmer’s brilliance was obvious but there was one particular moment – his free-kick – that really caught the eye of the onlooking pundits.

Cole Palmer’s free-kick lauded as ‘mind boggling’ during Chelsea v Brighton

Palmer delightfully dispatched his set-piece up and over the wall in a moment of real quality and over on the BBC comms, pundit Rachel Brown-Finnis lauded the effort from Palmer.

“The free-kick was mind boggling from Cole Palmer. The angle and dip. Stunning,” she commented.

Palmer is world-class

Pep Guardiola has got a lot of things right during his time at Man City manager but one of the biggest negatives has been the sale of Cole Palmer.

At the time, Pep simply wished Palmer well and admitted he couldn’t quite offer him the game time that Chelsea could.

But that now looks a serious error and Palmer is showing time and again he is one of the best in the business.

At £40m, Chelsea have got one of the biggest bargains going and Palmer could well be a difference time and again this season.
