Mohamed Salah exit: 'Pressure on Liverpool shoots up after £59m transfer news'

Liverpool are under yet more pressure when it comes to the future of Mohammed Salah, following the latest transfer update.
The Egyptian has once again been in outstanding form for the Reds this season, proving to be a major driving force behind their quest for silverware, helping them to the top of the Premier League table.
But as has been much discussed, he is of course out of contract in the summer, which will be a major concern to those at Anfield given his clear ongoing importance to Arne Slot’s side.
Now the latest news to emerge in the January transfer window is only going to make those of a Liverpool persuasion even more worried about the situation surrounding Salah.
Liverpool face missing out on Napoli star
As a winger with experience of being a key player in a title-winning team from his time with Italy, the Georgian international could have been a very suitable replacement for Salah at Liverpool.
Indeed, at 23 years old he is also much younger than Salah and would therefore be a longer-term asset for the Reds if he made that move.
It now though appears that will not be happening, with a deal apparently agreed for Kvaratskhelia to join French champions PSG on a five-year contract for a fee of €70million [£59m] plus add-ons [Fabrizio Romano].
With that transfer seemingly now imminent, it will put even more pressure on Liverpool over the challenge of agreeing a new contract with Salah.
There are not many players in the world who have the potential to have as big an influence as the 32-year-old at such a high level.
With Kvaratskhelia now looking set for a move to the French capital on a long-term deal it looks as though one of the few who potentially could will soon be off the market.
That of course also means that if Salah does depart in the summer, it is going to be harder for the Reds to find a suitable replacement for him, which is also going to be a concern as they assess his future.
It is of course worth noting that in football nothing is ever guaranteed until it is officially announced, and so for now there may be one last chance for Liverpool to swoop in an attempt to beat PSG to this deal.
Given the security it could offer them with regards to a potential exit for Salah, you could understand it if such an audacious move would be tempting for them.
With all that in mind, this latest update on Kvaratskhelia has surely now ensured the Reds’ next move when it comes to their attacking options is going to be even more pressurised, whatever it may be.
In other news, Liverpool and Man United are racing to sign a Wolves player.
