Liverpool star Mohamed Salah could be set to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal after The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al Alshikh, dropped a major hint on social media.

The 32-year-old is one of three key Liverpool players, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold who are out of contract at the end of the season.

Salah was uncharacteristically quiet in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday (January 15), which marked just his fifth Liverpool game so far this season without making a goal contribution.

Liverpool remain six-points clear at the top of the Premier League table despite dropping points against Forest, with 14 wins, five draws, one defeat, and 47 points from their 20 games.

The winger has been candid regarding his situation at the club, speaking to Sky Sports after their 5-0 win over Southampton, saying: "So far, yes. It's the last six months. "There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see."

Mohamed Salah wanted in Saudi Arabia as Liverpool contract ticks down

Salah has been arguably the best player in the world so far this season, starting 27 of his 29 games across all competitions, scoring 21 goals, and providing 17 assists in his 2420 minutes of action.

Liverpool rejected a £150million from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad back in the summer of 2023 and could not be set to lose him on a free.

Turki Al Alshikh, who has played a significant role in the emergence of the Saudi Pro League, as well as the nation’s other sporting and entertainment ventures, appears keen on bringing Salah to the country, taking to Facebook to share a photoshopped image of the forward in an Al Hilal shirt.

Liverpool have four games remaining in January alone, including crucial Champions League games with Lille and PSV as they seek to keep their 100 per cent European record intact.

Arne Slot’s attention will be firmly on domestic affairs for now, however, as his side travel to Brentford on Saturday (Janaury 18).
