Morgan Rogers responds after confirmed Aston Villa exit news

Aston Villa attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers has responded on social media after a January transfer move was confirmed.

Louie Barry has been recalled from his loan at Stockport County in League One, and has joined Championship side Hull City.

The deal was announced on the same day (29 January) that the youngster penned a contract extension with the Villains [Aston Villa].

Barry won the League One player of the month award twice whilst on-loan at Stockport, scoring 15 goals in 23 matches.

Villa made the decision to recall Barry following his successful loan, in order to test him at a higher level.

Barry had been linked with a move to Leeds United, before signing for their Championship rivals Hull.

Former Man City man, Rogers, scored twice in the first half of their Champions League tie against Celtic before completing an excellent hat-trick late on in a 4-2 win.

He has become an integral part of Unai Emery’s Villa team this season, appearing 22 times in the Premier League, scoring six goals and assisting four.

The exciting attacking midfielder has also made his England debut this year, appearing twice in the UEFA Nations League, against Greece and Ireland.

Barry posted on his Instagram after news broke, saying: “Excited to be here. Can’t wait to get started and finish the season strong. See you all Saturday”, to which Rogers responded: “You got this bro”.

Barry may not be the only striker leaving Villa, Arsenal have made an offer for Ollie Watkins.

Villa will face Midlands rivals, Wolves, in their next Premier League game on Saturday (1 February).
