'My concern': Bruno Fernandes says he has one serious worry about Amad Diallo right now
Today at 03:55 AM
Amad Diallo is Old Trafford's newest hero.
The Ivorian winger has been utterly brilliant in recent months in a time when Manchester United have struggled.
Indeed, United may be in the bottom-half of the Premier League table, but Diallo is playing like a Champions League player.
Diallo has earned huge praise as of late, but speaking to SuperSport, Bruno Fernandes has now played down some of the hype surrounding the attacker.
Indeed, rather than heaping praise upon Amad Diallo, Fernandes has shared a concern he actually has about the former Atalanta player.
The United captain says he's worried about Diallo becoming complacent after making a name for himself.
Bruno Fernandes' Amad Diallo concern
Fernandes shared his worry about Diallo.
The midfielder says that he doesn't want Diallo to think he's already arrived and that the youngster needs to keep pushing and pushing to keep improving and not rest on his laurels.
"Amad, what in your opinion has seen him grow so much this season
"No, he hasn't grown. He's been always the same, he's getting his chances now. He's always doing the same thing and that's why he's getting his flowers now.
"My concern with Amad, and this is why I'm always on top of him, is that he carries on now with like 'oh I've done it now and I don't need to push myself.' He's not been that type of player since he arrived, and I don't want him to turn into that player, I want him to push himself even more now because expectations on him are much higher."
Manchester United players who peaked too soon
Amad Diallo is arguably Manchester United's best player at the age of just 22, and the sky appears to be the limit for this young man.
However, we have been here before.
Indeed, United have had a number of players over the years who looked like stars only to fail to meet their potential.
Manchester United players who peaked too soon |
Marcus Rashford |
Adnan Januzaj |
Anthony Martial |
Anderson |
Federico Macheda |
Marcus Rashford looked like he would become a world-beater when he was younger, and, he did come close to hitting that level a few years ago, but now, at the age of 27, Rashford wants to leave United, and his form has been poor for almost two years at this point.
Anthony Martial was a teenage sensation, but he's now playing in Greece at the age of just 29.
Meanwhile, Adnan Januzaj was a key player for United as a youngster, but he never achieved anything monumental in the game.
Anderson had bags of ability and the Brazilian was a Golden Boy winner, but he didn't hit the heights expected of him either.
For one reason or another, United have had their fair share of players who peaked too soon, and, hopefully, Diallo won't follow that trend.
