'Never': Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have absolutely no interest in signing 30-goal striker this summer

Fabrizio Romano has rubbished claims that Arsenal have had any interest in one player.

The Gunners are definitely on the market for a new attacker. They tried very hard to sign Benjamin Sesko but he rejected Arsenal and decided to stay at RB Leipzig instead.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar have to look elsewhere to strengthen their attack now, and they have been linked with quite a few names in recent weeks.

One of them scored more goals than every single Arsenal player, and Romano has now shared an update on the links between that player and the Gunners.

Serhou Guirassy was one of the most prolific strikers in Europe in the 2023/24 season.

The Guinea international, who plays for Stuttgart, scored 30 goals in as many games in all competitions last term. He was absolutely incredible for the German club.

After a fine season, Guirassy was expected by everyone to leave Stuttgart, and he has been linked with a number of clubs over the last few weeks.

Reports claimed that Arsenal wanted to sign Guirassy too, and a move did make sense because of his numbers and also as his release clause was extremely affordable – just £15 million.

However, Romano confirmed on Wednesday that Guirassy will be signing for Borussia Dortmund now.

That led many people to believe that the 28-year-old striker rejected a move to the Emirates, but that is not true at all, says Romano.

The journalist has now revealed that despite the links, Arsenal were never interested in signing Guirassy in this window.

Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing: “Everything is in place for Guirassy to join Dortmund after he agreed on the contract and the salary, but we've also had many rumours about other clubs, including Arsenal.

“My understanding is that Arsenal were never really interested in Guirassy as they're looking at a different kind of player.”

Three strikers Arsenal could still sign this summer

The striker market will be a very interesting one this summer.

Arsenal are expected to be on the lookout to strengthen that position, and it’s no secret that they have been linked with plenty of names.

However, with Sesko set to stay at Leipzig, Alexander Isak being too expensive and Guirassy not even of any interest, we are intrigued to see who Arsenal will go after.

One possibility is Victor Osimhen, with Antonio Conte confirming that the player and Napoli have an agreement to part ways this summer.

Viktor Gyokeres is another option, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in this window. The Swede directly contributed to over 50 goals in the 2023/24 season.

Another striker Arsenal have been linked with is Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee. However, they face competition from Manchester United and AC Milan among others for his signature.
