Arsenal are still being linked with numerous top strikers across Europe.

The Gunners didn't sign a striker in the summer, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

Indeed, Arsenal tried to sign Benjamin Sesko in the summer transfer window, while Arsenal were also fans of Alexander Isak.

Isak was apparently Mikel Arteta's dream target in the summer, but according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1TV, the Arsenal boss wouldn't be willing to sanction a big-money move for Isak.

Indeed, Kay says that Arteta wouldn't spend £100m on Isak, claiming that he'd only do a deal at around the £60m mark.

Mikel Arteta would pay £60m for Alexander Isak

Kay shared what he knows about Isak and Arsenal's interest

The journalist says that Arteta wouldn't stump up £100m for Isak, claiming that he'd only do a deal on a cut-price basis.

Isak has previously been called an ‘incredible’ striker.

"Is Isak off the table? I think he would jump at the chance to sign for Arsenal," Kay was asked.

"I'll tell you something now, Mikel Arteta is not paying £100m to sign Isak. I know you say irrespective of the fee, but I have to look at it how it is. Alexander Isak, Arteta would never buy him unless he was £50-60m,” Kay said.

Alexander Isak could sign a new Newcastle contract

Arsenal have been linked with Isak in recent times, but it sounds like the Swedish striker could be staying at St James' Park.

Newcastle are confident that Isak could sign a new contract. However, there have been talks about a release clause in this new deal.

However, that release clause is likely to be in excess of £100m and that would, once again, rule Arsenal out of the race.

Tottenham have also been linked with Isak, but after spending big money on Dominic Solanke in the summer, it's hard to see Ange Postecoglou's side splashing the cash to sign Isak.

The reality is that Arsenal do still need to sign a striker. Yes, Kai Havertz has been in brilliant form as of late, but he's been a patchy player for a long time and Arsenal don't have tons of depth in that area.

It will be interesting to see what Arsenal do in this position in the coming months.
