Newcastle United fans watched on as three of their former players really impressed in Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Forest managed to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the City Ground to jump above Arsenal into second place in the Premier League.

Chris Wood, Matz Sels and Elliot Anderson were among the former Magpies lining up for the hosts and all three produced strong displays.

But one of them in particular produced quite a sensational display and played a key role in helping Forest to take a crucial point from the league leaders.

Matz Sels was the former Newcastle United player who impressed supporters the most as the Belgian produced several crucial stops to deny Liverpool all three points.

The 32-year-old has been flying for Nottingham Forest this campaign and is currently top of the Golden Glove standing with nine clean sheets.

Right now, Newcastle fans can’t believe the player they are watching as the consensus amongst supporters was that Sels’ time at St James’ Park was hugely disappointing.

As he failed to make an impression in the Championship, the Tyneside club decided to sell him for just £3.5 million to Strasbourg.

Following his stunning display against Arne Slot’s Liverpool, Newcastle fans took to X to share how impressed they were by their former goalkeeper.
