Next Wolves manager odds: Vitor Pereira clear favourite after Gary O’Neil sacked
Yesterday at 04:35 AM
Gary O’Neil was sacked as Wolves boss after their defeat to Ipswich on Saturday with the squad clearly frustrated as tempers rose at the end of the game.
Vitor Pereira is now the odds-on favourite to takeover at the Molineux, with talks already underway to get the current Al Shabab boss over to the Premier League.

Pereira looks a great choice in the grand scheme of things in terms of experience with a whole host of previous clubs managed including Porto, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, Flamengo and Corinthians.
That said, he’s not often stayed at a club for longer than a year with each of his last four clubs only being in charge for a few months.
In July 2021 he went to Turkey to takeover at Fenerbahce but left in December of the same year.
In February 2022 he went to Brazil to manage Corinthians before departing on New Year’s Eve to make the switch to rivals Flamengo, but that move only lasted until April 2023.
In February 2024 he was appointed manager of Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab where he’s remained in charge.
However, with the odds being hammered in it’s clear talks are quite advanced at this stage.
Wolves sit a few points off safety now having only won twice so far this season with as many as 11 losses.
They have some distance ahead of Southampton at least, by four points, but need a big turnaround to save themselves from relegation.
And even the most Premier League experienced managers would be looking at this side with multiple suspensions from that Ipswich game thinking how big a challenge this could be.
What’s worse on Saturday, is they not only lost but their relegation rivals Ipswich went three points clear of them and in touching distance of jumping out the drop as they secured just their second win of the entire season.
