Nicolas Jackson shared an uplifting post on social media as he made his long-awaited return to Chelsea training after injury.

Jackson has been out of action since February, picking up a hamstring injury which has kept him sidelined for nine games.

His absence was a major setback for Enzo Maresca's side, especially with Marc Guiu also sidelined at the same time, leaving the side short of attacking options.

Chelsea fans had voiced their frustration at the board and their failure to sign a forward in the January transfer window, blaming them for the lack of cover up front. The situation even led to Chelsea supporters calling for Joao Felix to be recalled as the team struggled for firepower.

However, Jackson's latest update has reassured the Chelsea faithful that he may return the starting XI soon, raising hopes that he can make a strong impact in the final stretch of the season.

Enzo Maresca favours Nicolas Jackson over Christopher Nkunku in Chelsea attack

The striker shared a post on Instagram featuring an old image of the team in a huddle, captioned with a blue heart and prayer emoji.

This could be a nod to his return to full involvement with the squad, as Chelsea have already confirmed that he is back in training.

Chelsea fans have certainly felt the impact of Jackson's absence, with Christopher Nkunku and Pedro Neto struggling to impress in the centre-forward role.

With Felix on loan at AC Milan, many expected Nkunku to take on a more prominent role up front. However, Maresca appears unconvinced by him as a long-term striking option, starting Neto in a false-nine instead.

Jackson was clearly the manager's preferred central striker in the Premier League before his injury, featuring in every league match, whilst other players started in the Conference League and domestic competitions.

The Senegalese forward has scored nine goals and provided five assists this season—making him Chelsea's second-highest contributor in the league, only behind Cole Palmer.

Despite Jackson being Maresca's first-choice striker, the Blues are reportedly in the market for a new centre-forward this summer.

Football Insider previously revealed that Chelsea had considered signing Victor Osimhen in January, but no deal materialised.

Chelsea supporters continue to push for the club to sign Osimhen come the summer window, especially with his loan spell at Galatasaray coming to an end.

For now, though, Maresca will be relieved to have Jackson back, adding much-needed firepower to Chelsea's attack as they approach the crucial final stretch of the season.
