Nottingham Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic has been a revelation at the City Ground since joining just a few months ago.

The Reds signed Milenkovic from Italian outfit Fiorentina, paying them a reported £12million to land him on a five-year contract.

Milenkovic has hit the ground running at Forest, playing the full 90 minutes in six of their Premier League games so far, plus 30 minutes in the Carabao Cup.

The 26-year-old has helped Forest accrue one of the best defensive records in the top flight heading into the second international break of the season.

Indeed, only Premier League title challengers Liverpool have conceded fewer goals than the Reds so far this term.

Milenkovic’s efforts have seen him win Forest’s Player of the Month award for September, as voted for by the Reds fanbase.

The Serbia international has now spoken about how he’s finding life at Forest so far, as per the club’s official website.

Nikola Milenkovic hails Nottingham Forest stadium, fans and manager

Milenkovic feels he has settled in well in the Premier League, saying: "We all know that the Premier League is the best league in the world.

“It's a real pleasure to play in and it's quite different from Serie A. The intensity of the games is much stronger, there are many offensive and defensive transitions.

“So far, it has been great for me.”

Milenkovic also spoke about how great it is to be playing at such a big, historic and well-supported club as Forest.

"When you enter the stadium, you can still feel the history. The club has a really huge history.

“The fans have a great passion for football. They participate in every moment of the match and have a great appetite, and that’s what we feel on the field.

"Every game is beautiful in its own way, the fans create a unique atmosphere and participate a lot in the game. As I said, I enjoy playing the games."

Milenkovic also praised Reds manager Nuno, saying: “I think the coach is a great manager. He prepares games well and we try to transfer his ideas to the field in the best possible way.

“We hope to continue in that direction.”

Forest have struck gold with Milenkovic

Forest struggled defensively last season, particularly at set pieces, and Milenkovic – as well as Murillo – have helped turn things round for the Reds on this front.

Forest now boast one of the meanest defences in the top flight, and they’ve certainly laid some great foundations upon which to build after the international break.

Better still, £12million for a player of Milenkovic’s quality is an absolute bargain. That’s the kind of price that would have landed a top defender about 25 years ago.
