The Women's Football Awards, Europe's biggest event that recognises the stars and pioneers of women's football, is calling on fans and the public to submit their nominations for the prestigious 2025 awards.

This highly anticipated annual ceremony, which takes place in London on May 1, celebrates the exceptional athletes, influencers, organisations and brands driving the growth and success of women's football in the UK and  across the globe.

Past winners have included world-class talents like Arsenal forward Alessia Russo, Paris Saint-Germain and England goalkeeper Mary Earps, Chelsea attacker Lauren James, England defender Jess Carter, and broadcasters Alex Scott and Fern Whelan.

Hosted by Lionesses legend Eni Aluko MBE and Liverpool great Jamie Carragher, the event also honours those organisations and brands shaping the future of women's football through innovation, investment, and visibility.

With the 2025 awards taking place in three months’ time, nominations are now open, allowing fans to have a say in who makes the final shortlist. Metro is delighted to be official partner for the third year, as we have been since the inaugural awards in 2023.

Key categories include Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Women's Football Broadcaster of the Year, Journalist of the Year, Football Business of the Year, World Cup Player of the Year, and the Off the Pitch Award, among others.

Fans can submit their nominations online at www.womensfootballawards.com, with the final shortlist set to be revealed in March. Follow our coverage for more content, interviews and features as we build up to the awards and live coverage on May 1.

Former England star Aluko and host of the 2023 and 2024 Women's Football Awards, shared her excitement for this year's event: ‘The Women's Football Awards is the largest and most prestigious celebration of women's football in Britain and Europe.

‘The game is growing at an extraordinary rate, and the 2025 ceremony will be the perfect moment to celebrate those who are making history.

‘What makes these awards so special is that the public has the power to decide who deserves recognition—so we're encouraging everyone to nominate their heroes today!’

Arsenal and England forward Beth Mead, MBE, a passionate advocate for the event, added: ‘The Women's Football Awards highlight the incredible achievements of women in football worldwide.

‘It's an honour to be part of such a special celebration.’
