Arsenal are on cloud nine after triumphing in the North London derby at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium last weekend.

There were concerns among Gunners fans ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture in North London as they had several key players missing.

In addition, Tottenham were playing at home against Arsenal, and they have shown that they are more than capable of threatening on their day.

However, the Gunners executed their game plan perfectly and left Spurs with all three points and a clean sheet.

Now, Arsenal legend David Seaman has delivered his verdict on the game, pointing out that a flaw the Gunners used to have is “not there any more”.

David Seaman says Arsenal no longer have ‘soft underbelly’

Seaman, speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, spoke of how people used to bring up the fact Arsenal had a “soft underbelly”.

The Highbury icon admitted it was hard to argue against that, but the Gunners have since addressed this flaw, as evidenced by their last two games.

“The game against Brighton, you know, not the last couple of seasons but a few seasons before that, we would have collapsed on that,” said Seaman.

“People said that we had a soft underbelly and you couldn’t argue against that, but now that’s not there.

“There’s a steely determination, and the fact that (the North London derby win) was at White Hart Lane makes it so much more special.”

Arsenal can dream of glory this season

Mikel Arteta needed a while to clean house at Arsenal, but he has certainly done that.

The Gunners were in mid-table when Arteta took the reins in 2019, and he has had to make numerous controversial decisions in that time.

For instance, moving the likes of Mesut Ozil, Matteo Guendouzi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on didn’t prove popular at the time.

However, all of Arteta’s work, and his eagerness not to succumb to pressure and criticism, has turned Arsenal into one of England’s biggest clubs once again.

This season, the Gunners faithful can dream of glory, with their team surely capable of going all the way in the Premier League and the cups.

When do Arsenal play next?

Arsenal are next in action on Thursday 19 September as they take on Atalanta away in the Champions League.

The Gunners then head to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday 22 September.
