Sometimes in football, it can take a young player a bit of time to get up to speed and fulfil their potential and it looks like Manchester United are going to benefit from that scenario this season.

United are into yet another new managerial era under Ruben Amorim and after a stop-start opening few games, they exploded into life by hammering Everton this weekend.

Amorim will take time to get his methods across but United fans can be excited about a few things.

His clear system of using wing-backs to get forward is eye-catching and so far, despite shoe-horning players in, it seems to be working.

Indeed, one of the players benefitting from this system is £37m signing, Amad Diallo.

Diallo has been in and out of things ever since signing for United but Amorim has put his trust in Diallo early, using the young wide man as his right wing-back to devastating effect.

And for Diallo, it’s looking like he’s about to finally prove that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was right about him all along.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Amad Diallo prediction coming true at Manchester United

United legend Solskjaer was in charge when the club signed Diallo back in January 2021.

At the time, Diallo was relatively unknown to United fans but Solskjaer was always confident and it seems his words are now ringing true.

.”Having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game,” Solskjaer said at the time.

“It will take time for him to adapt but his speed, vision and fantastic dribbling ability will stand him in good stead to make the transition.

“He is a player with all of the raw attributes that are needed to be an important player for Manchester United in the years to come.”

Pundits now realising how good Amad Diallo is

After grabbing four assists in his last three games and scoring twice against PAOK in Europe a few weeks back, Diallo is definitely getting some attention right now.

Alan Shearer has lauded Diallo for his performance v Everton this weekend, while former coach Rene Meulensteen picked up on Diallo’s brilliance a few weeks back.

Interestingly, Ruben Amorim has claimed that Ruud van Nistelrooy is the man behind Diallo’s uptick.

"He did a great job but he also has to improve. He is a great moment. Ruud van Nistelrooy helped him a lot in his games in charge and now he's helping me,” Amorim commented this weekend.

Diallo, then, looks to have finally got himself going properly and United fans will be eagerly anticipating what the rest of the season can bring.
