'One crucial thing': Fabrizio Romano has shared evening update on Dani Olmo

Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are just some of the clubs that have been linked with Dani Olmo in recent weeks.

The Gunners, the Reds, the Lilywhites and the Blues are likely to be busy on the transfer front in August once the dominoes start to fall.

Arsenal and Liverpool will be eager to strengthen their ranks and challenge for the Premier League title once again.

Meanwhile, Tottenham and Chelsea will be desperate to make a return to the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

All four clubs have been linked with Olmo, who plies his trade for RB Leipzig and helped Spain triumph at Euro 2024.

A few weeks ago, TBR Football sources claimed that the 26-year-old's agents spoke to several clubs in the Premier League about their client's situation.

The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea, plus Manchester City, were said to have taken part in discussions with Olmo’s representatives.

Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update on the Euro 2024 winner’s transfer situation.

Dani Olmo being made to wait as Barcelona try to sign Nico Williams

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, reiterated that Olmo is keen on moving to Barcelona.

However, he is now being forced to wait, because the Blaugrana are currently fully focused on getting a move for Nico Williams over the line.

“Let me say one crucial thing,” began Romano.

“Barca are giving total priority to the sign of Nico Williams, so Barca are not discussing in advanced talks any other deal until they have a final decision from Williams.

“It means that Dani Olmo talks are ongoing? Yes, for sure, they like Dani Olmo.

“Yes, they had meetings with his agents but they are not going to close the deal for Olmo until they know what’s going to happen with Nico.

“This is the position of Barcelona, this is the strategy. Nothing is happening with Dani Olmo this weekend.

“The appreciation of Dani Olmo is absolutely confirmed. He likes the project of Barcelona, he loves the idea of returning to Spain, but in this moment for Barca the priority is the answer of Nico.”

Premier League clubs may still have a window of opportunity

Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea will be eagerly monitoring proceedings to see what happens involving Barca, Williams and Olmo.

If Olmo is made to wait for too long, there’s a chance he may decide to seek an alternative club. Likewise, if Barca sign Williams, they may reassess their options thereafter.

Based on Romano’s report, it looks as though the aforementioned Premier League clubs may still have the opportunity to swoop for Olmo.
