Oscar Cortes has seemingly dropped a hint about his availability as Rangers prepare to face Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

The Light Blues have been without the Colombian winger since January, making just five appearances for the first time since September, continuing to be plagued by injuries at Ibrox.

He has made just 15 appearances across all competitions over the last two seasons in Scotland, but in the rare displays that supporters have seen so far, the winger has clearly impressed enough.

While Vaclav Cerny has locked down Rangers’ right flank, the likes of Tom Lawrence, Nedim Bajrami and Ianis Hagi have been unable to make the left-wing position their own, so fans are desperate for Cortes to return.

Oscar Cortes could return to the pitch for end-of-season run-in

Taking to his Instagram story [27 March], Cortes simply posted an image of himself on the training ground, captioned with a blue love heart.

An away league fixture against Dundee could be the perfect chance to give the youngster some much-needed minutes on the pitch, with the Gers likely to have both eyes fixed on the Europa League.

Barry Ferguson can cement permanent Rangers job with Europa League glory

Football Insider verdict

Barry Ferguson is almost auditioning to keep his job at Rangers, with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Derek McInnes and Russell Martin all being linked to Ibrox in recent weeks.

Ally McCoist told Football Insider that Rafa Benitez would be interested in taking over at Rangers, but with his ambitions to manage in the Premier League again, it might not come to fruition.

While the Scottish Premiership title is completely out of reach, the Gers can still bring silverware back to Ibrox via the Europa League, with Athletic Bilbao currently standing in their way.

Barry Ferguson could lift silverware as interim manager.

Ferguson has already led the Light Blues past Jose Mourinho‘s Fenerbahce, being taken to penalties in a tense second-leg tie at Ibrox before celebrating in front of the home crowd.

Lyon or Man United could away them in the next round, but with Bilbao no easy challenge, all eyes will be firmly focused on getting through the quarter-finals first.
