Thomas Partey is set to enter the open market this summer as his contract at Arsenal heads towards expiry.

Partey has been a near ever-present for the Gunners this term but looks bound for the exit door at the end of June, despite more appearances and goals than in any of his four previous seasons with Arsenal.

Man United’s former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in December that Arsenal had no immediate plans to open new contract talks with Partey, and that’s remained the case in the five months since.

Football Insider revealed more recently that Partey and Jorginho will both be allowed to leave The Emirates this summer, with the two midfielders set to attract plenty of interest on potential free transfers.

Saudi Pro League moved lined up for Thomas Partey

Arsenal long since decided not to extend Partey’s five-year stay at the Emirates as the Ghanaian prepares for pastures new, and are have already lined up who’ll replace him in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

On 21 April, Sky Sport.ch journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that amid interest from Premier League and Serie A sides in the soon-to-be free agent, Partey is “especially” keen on a move to Saudi Arabia.

The 31-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed by Saudi Pro League teams, and discussions between his entourage and officials from the league over a three-year deal are already “well underway”.

Partey is settled in London and could opt for a move to another Premier League club, but has “immediately validated” a move to the Middle East with an eye on the last “major contract” of his career.

Arsenal already have post-Partey transfer plan

With Arsenal keen to get much closer to Liverpool in next season’s Premier League title race than they’ve managed this season, top-class replacements for both Partey and Jorginho will be needed for Arteta.

Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Arsenal’s seemingly-agreed deal for Martin Zubimendi had “hit a stumbling block”, but the Gunners will still be confident they can get a deal over the line.

Bayern Munich and Germany star Joshua Kimmich has also been mooted as a potential successor in the number six role, and it remains to be seen who will be lining up in the engine room at the Emirates next season.
