Arsenal have some of the very best players in Europe in their squad right now.

Bukayo Saka is a world-class player, Martin Odegaard is a special talent, while William Saliba might be the best defender in the world.

However, Arsenal also have a few underrated players in their squad too.

Patrick Vieira says Declan Rice is underrated, while speaking to Sky Sports, Aaron Ramsdale has showered Gabriel Magalhaes with praise.

Ramsdale was asked to name the best defenders he's ever played with, and he spoke incredibly highly of Gabriel.

The goalkeeper says that Gabriel actually makes William Saliba a better player, and that he is often disrespected as a football.

Aaron Ramsdale says Gabriel Magalhaes is disrespected

Ramsdale spoke about Gabriel and how he views the Brazilian as a player.

The Southampton ace says that Gabriel is disrespected as a player, claiming that he makes William Saliba a much better player.

"He (Gabriel) makes him (Saliba) look better, and people disrespect him a lot. He (Saliba) is incredible, but he (Gabriel) makes him so much better," Ramsdale said.

"He's one of the nicest men in football, until he gets over that white line. He'll do anything to stop a goal. I've seen him get his teeth knocked out and then he's on the pitch afterwards trying to find them, he's incredible, honestly."

Saliba record with and without Gabriel

Ramsdale says that Gabriel makes Saliba a better player, and that is an interesting point.

Gabriel and Saliba are one of the best partnerships in the Premier League, and, most weeks, they start together for Arsenal.

However, every now and then, Gabriel is sidelined, and Saliba has to start without his trusty partner.

Saliba has actually played seven games for Arsenal in which Gabriel hasn't featured, and Arsenal's record in those matches is interesting.

In those seven games games, Arsenal have actually won five of those matches, drawing once and losing once – interestingly, both times against Fulham.

More intriguingly, Saliba has scored in two out of the seven games he's played in without Gabriel, showing that he can be just as much of a threat from set plays as the Brazilian.

Of course, this is a very small sample size, and some of these games are against weak opposition such as Preston North End and Bodo/Glimt, but the numbers do suggest that Gabriel doesn't elevate Saliba's level that much considering Arsenal's stellar record when Saliba is in the team without Gabriel.
