Liverpool face Wolves in the Premier League this weekend as they look to continue their strong start under Arne Slot.

If results go the right way for the Reds, they could finish this week top of the league, but in order to do that, they need to beat Wolves.

Wolves have had a tough start to the season as they currently sit bottom of the Premier League, and they head into this match as serious underdogs.

However, as Nottingham Forest showed a fortnight ago, Liverpool can be got at, and Wolves will be hoping to repeat that trick at Molineux.

Writing in his column for SportsKeeda, Paul Merson has been previewing this game, and he's made an interesting claim about Liverpool's attack.

Indeed, Merson says that he'd start Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah in the front three for this one, leaving out Luis Diaz despite his incredible form so far this season.

Paul Merson would drop Luis Diaz

Merson shared his verdict on how Liverpool should line up for this one.

"I’d personally go with Cody Gakpo alongside Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah for this game. I think Gakpo is playing with a lot of confidence and he just gives you something more than the other options," Merson wrote.

Luis Diaz is undroppable

Rotation in football is never a bad thing, but you can't leave Luis Diaz out of this Liverpool team at the moment.

The Colombian is in red hot form, and you want to keep that rhythm going for as long as you possibly can.

Of course, you need to manage your star players' minutes, but you also don't want to disrupt a player when they're in their groove.

Merson believes that Gakpo and Nunez should start this game, but it's hard to imagine that Arne Slot will field a team that doesn't contain Luis Diaz on Saturday.
