Player says Rangers spell behind move to top league – Insists he did well for Philippe Clement

Fábio Silva is of the belief he had a successful spell at Rangers. He insists that his displays under Philippe Clement's orders helped him secure a move to UD Las Palmas in the last window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers allowed the striker to go out on loan to Rangers in January, before letting him secure another temporary move to the La Liga side.

The 22-year-old has been speaking to the Spanish media, where he stated his time at Rangers has key for him to secure a move to one of the top leagues in Europe. His quotes are relayed by La Provincia.

Silva prefers to operate as a striker but can be used in other attacking positions. Philippe Clement used him as a No.9 and also on the left side of the pitch at Rangers.

The Portuguese clocked in less than 1,500 minutes from 25 games for Rangers, scoring six goals in the process.

Since leaving FC Porto for Wolves in 2020, Silva has been on loan at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven, but not in a top league. He claims a move to Las Palmas was possible due to his performances for Rangers.

"I came [to Las Palmas] to succeed and in Scotland [at Rangers] I think I succeeded because now I am in La Liga," he said.

"The issue of the €40m price tag is something that happened and I am not to blame. I try to do things well on the field. I’m 22 years old, people forget, I think I’m doing things well, naturally, that’s why I’m here.”
