Graham Potter is the new manager of West Ham United, and he's joined the Hammers at a very opportune moment.

The January transfer window is open, and Graham Potter can get to work in terms of bolstering his squad should he wish to.

West Ham were very busy in the summer, and they could be busy again in this window.

West Ham have been linked with a number of potential signings this month.

Marcus Rashford is a West Ham target, while West Ham are keen on Evan Ferguson also.

Speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, Matt Law has now claimed that Graham Potter has another transfer target in mind for his new club.

Graham Potter likes Carney Chukwuemeka

Law spoke about Carney Chukwuemeka's future at Chelsea.

The journalist says that the Blues want to sell the young midfielder this month and that West Ham are definitely among the teams interested.

West Ham had been linked with Chukwuemeka, and according to Law, new manager, Potter, is a fan of the Chelsea ace.

"They want to sell him, whether that changes through the window. West Ham definitely are there with him. And again, I think Potter likes him, although he’ll be very aware of his injury record,” Law said.

“So worth looking at. There might be some other options for Carney Chukwuemeka as well, but I’m not sure anyone will be paying 40 million pounds for him."

What Graham Potter has said about Carney Chukwuemeka

Potter, of course, knows Chukwuemeka quite well from his time at Chelsea.

Indeed, the young midfielder worked under Potter for a few months during the 2022/23 season.

Potter actually had good things to say about Chukwuemeka during that time, via The Standard.

"Well, if you look at these attributes, he's a big powerful boy that can run and run away from people, and in a game like Brentford, you're often in duels and need physicality, and I thought he and Christian [Pulisic] did well when they came on. They affected the game. That was just the thinking.

"He's a young player, but he's got exciting attributes. We just need to help him reach his potential because his potential is exciting."

Potter actually used Chukwuemeka a fair amount during his time at Chelsea considering he was a teenager, but, unfortunately, results weren’t great when Chukwuemeka did play.

This would potentially be a smart signing from West Ham, and if Potter does approve of this deal, the wheels could soon be in motion for Chukwuemeka to arrive at the London Stadium.
