Leicester City fans are growing anxious about a potential points deduction following finance expert Kieran Maguire's remarks on The Overlap podcast.

The Foxes were previously charged with a breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) during the 2022/23 season but managed to appeal successfully. However, there are concerns the club may face similar allegations this season due to potential breaches in 2023/24.

Fans believe Leicester could be the club in question after Maguire hinted at a high-risk Premier League side on The Overlap. While he didn't name the club explicitly, he said, "There's one club in particular in the Premier League who is at high risk of a charge” [via The Overlap on Youtube].

Adding fuel to the speculation, he clarified, "They don't play in red" narrowing down the possibilities and leading many to speculate Leicester could be the team under scrutiny.

Leicester fans are expecting a PSR charge to further derail their season

Football Insider opinion

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leicester are likely to have breached PSR for the 2023/24 season due to ongoing financial issues. It is believed the club may have exceeded the allowable losses limit by a significant margin.

A points deduction, should it materialise, would be a severe setback for Ruud van Nistelrooy's hopes of keeping the club in the Premier League.

The Dutch manager replaced Steve Cooper in November, but has only managed one win during his tenure.

Leicester currently sit in 19th place, three points adrift of safety. A deduction would make the already daunting task of survival even more challenging.

The club is eager to back Van Nistelrooy with a defensive signing in the January transfer window. However, with a PSR charge looming, a loan deal appears more realistic than a permanent transfer.

Fans have taken to social media to voice their concerns. One commented, "We all know it's Leicester" while another speculated about Van Nistelrooy's future, saying, "Let's see if Ruud stays”.

Everton fans, still frustrated by their own points deduction, also reacted to the news. One said, "It's Leicester” but they'll still be charged because they “play in blue."

In other news, Leicester City fans have branded Jakub Stolarczyk the worst, after this footage was revealed.
