Rangers star 'gets away with murder' after referee 'scandal' v Hibs - Fans react

Rangers star Moahmed Diomande was lucky to avoid a red card against Hibernian after a “scandalous” decision by referee John Beaton, fans are insisting.

Philippe Clement’s side were left frustrated in a 3-3 draw at Easter Road after two early goals from Hamza Igamane were cancelled out by a brace from Martin Boyle after 61 minutes.

Igamane scored his hattrick goal in the 74th minute to put his side 3-2 ahead, but the hosts found the equaliser and final goal of the game through Rocky Bushiri less than ten minutes later.

This saw Rangers stumble in their attempts to close the gap to league-leaders Celtic after their 3-0 win at Ibrox in midweek, with Brendan Rodgers’ side still to play this weekend.

However, the spotlight from rivals fans remained fixed on the 23-year-old midfielder after footage of his challenge on Hibs’ left-back Nicky Cadden.

Diomande appeared to go in studs up, planting his foot into the defender’s ankle, but it was overlooked by Beaton and VAR official Kevin Clancy.

In fact, the midfielder was not even awarded a yellow card for the foul despite the VAR check, leading fans on social media to slam the officials’ decision.

This is not the first officiating controversy Diomande has been involved in this season, and fans are now claiming he “gets away with murder” on a weekly basis.

Meanwhile, Rangers have been outspoken against the Scottish FA’s officiating standards in recent weeks following the League Cup final defeat to Celtic, which many are claiming has influenced the decision.

Taking to social media during the game, rival fans were left stunned by Diomande avoiding a red card, labelling decision “shocking” and even claiming “blatant cheating”.
