Nico Raskin has enjoyed a brilliant season at Ibrox and Rangers may have to be prepared for his exit to the Premier League this summer.

The Belgian was already a crucial aspect of Philippe Clement’s team during his Rangers reign, but with Barry Ferguson now in charge, the 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength this season.

His performances, quite clearly, have not gone unnoticed after being called up to the Belgian national team for the first time and featuring in both matches against Ukraine.

He was named Man of the Match by many as the Red Devils overturned a 3-1 defeat on Sunday 23 March, and it is now unsurprising to see him tipped with a big move away from Ibrox ahead of the summer.

With his current deal expiring in the summer of 2027, Tam McManus believes this could be his final season in Light Blue, especially if Premier League clubs are to come knocking for his signature.

Nico Raskin to leave Rangers after incredible 2024/25 campaign

Speaking live on PLZ Soccer [24 March], Tam McManus said: “Rangers haven’t been good at selling their players on at the prime time and getting money from them. Ryan Kent is another one.

“If Nico Raskin‘s got any ambitions, no disrespect to Rangers because they’re a massive club, his next step should be wanting the Premier League if he continues this form and gets Man of the Match for Belgium.

“Come the summer, I think Rangers will be looking to get him tied down. If he’s not interested, and he sees his future elsewhere, it’s the perfect time for him to sell him.”

Barry Ferguson could have tough summer ahead amid permanent manager situation

Football Insider verdict

There is so much uncertainty at Ibrox heading into the summer, but with 49ers Enterprises’ Rangers takeover taking centre stage, a lot of it comes hand-in-hand with excitement.

Ferguson will likely be hoping to become the permanent Rangers boss, having already reached the Europa League quarter-final and beating Celtic, but there are no signs to suggest whether that might come to fruition.

Ally McCoist told Football Insider that Rafa Benitez would be interested in the Rangers job, joining the likes of Derek McInnes, Russell Martin and Steven Gerrard on the list of potential hires.

Whoever is in charge, with Raskin now being linked with an exit, Vaclav Cerny, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Rafael Fernandes’ loan spells all ending, there is a difficult summer window to navigate ahead.

There is unlikely to be a financial war chest readily available, but if someone such as Raskin is sold for big money, it could be a season-defining transfer window for the Light Blues.
