Real Sociedad now have 'problem' over Nayef Aguerd transfer – West Ham can take advantage

When Real Sociedad were in the process of trying to sign Nayef Aguerd from West Ham United last summer, one thing was made very clear.
Real Sociedad didn’t want an option to buy and they wanted that stance to be very public. Often clubs take buying options without even having the slightest intention of using them, just so it’s there in case the player manages to surprise everyone.
However, La Real were determined.
Their local media repeatedly insisted so, and as we said in August: ‘The move would be a loan without a purchase option. Diario Vasco say Real Sociedad don't want one, because they're not looking long term with Aguerd. They have 23-year-old Jon Pacheco and 18-year-old Jon Martin and have no desire to slow their development down.’
Aguerd has so far made 22 appearances for the Spanish club, totalling 1,847 minutes. Meanwhile, Pacheco has 18 appearances and 1,170 minutes and Martin has 7 appearances totalling 525 minutes.
Estadio Deportivo now explain how crucial Aguerd has been for La Real since his arrival and they note there’s a growing problem appearing on the horizon.
That’s right! It’s that they didn’t agree a purchase option with West Ham.
The 28-year-old has been so impressive that his value will have risen from what it was, and it’s thought West Ham will be well aware how much Real Sociedad ‘need’ Aguerd and can therefore take advantage of the situation.
West Ham could even look to sell elsewhere in La Liga given he’s impressed this season and will have won new admirers.
Aguerd was ill at the weekend and had to miss the home match against Getafe. Real Sociedad lost 3-0, the only time they’ve conceded three goals in a La Liga match all season.
