Liverpool's midfield has been their problem position in recent years.

The Reds have had midfield problems for quite some time now, and even in Jurgen Klopp's final season, everything didn't quite click.

Indeed, Wataru Endo, as reliable as he was, wasn't an incredible holding midfield option, but that problem appears to have been solved this season.

Ryan Gravenberch has really stepped up this term, and he's even earned comparisons to Patrick Vieira due to his fantastic midfield showings.

Speaking to Liverpool's official club website, Dominik Szoboszlai has been discussing Gravenberch's performances this season, and he says the Dutchman has really improved this season and he's now showing his true self.

Ryan Gravenberch has improved

Szoboszlai discussed his £35m midfield partner.

"On Gravenberch, he is playing in a deeper role than in the past this season. How impressed with him have you been and how much does he help you on the pitch?" Szoboszlai was asked.

"Yeah, a lot. Last year he didn't have so much chance to show himself but I think if he gets the trust from the coach, this is actually Ryan," Szoboszlai said.

'He is really important for us and also in the midfield he knows that sometimes he is the player who has to stay more back, but also sometimes if he goes then he knows we [will] stay. So, we understand each other and that's helped us a lot."

Ryan Gravenberch needs to keep it up

Ryan Gravenberch has had an incredible start to the season, but consistency is the name of the game here.

Gravenberch has always had this in him – that's why Bayern Munich signed him from Ajax, but, throughout his career, he's been quite patchy.

However, he seems to be in his groove at the moment under Arne Slot, and if he can keep this level of performance up in the long-term, there's no reason why he can't be considered one of the world's premier midfield players.

Gravenberch has improved massively, but it's still early days for the midfielder and there's still plenty to prove.
