Renato Veiga is keen to leave Chelsea during the January transfer window due to his limited playing time under Enzo Maresca, according to talkSPORT.

According to the outlet's website on 10 January, the Blues have rejected an approach from Wolverhampton Wanderers despite Veiga's demands.

The report says the full-back wants "to get more playing time". He has primarily been deputy to Marc Cucurella while the Portuguese has played more in cup competitions.

Veiga's arrival during Chelsea's busy transfer window raised some eyebrows, particularly as the club already had Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella in his position. They were both costly signings. However, Veiga has quickly demonstrated his worth.

With six starts in the UEFA Conference League, he has contributed two goals and an assist, showcasing his potential. Yet, with just one Premier League start, the young defender may feel he is ready to play minutes more regularly.

He isn't alone in seeking more playing time. Christopher Nkunku, another high-profile signing, is also considering a move away from Stamford Bridge due to a lack of minutes.

Maresca has received praise for his squad rotation, often fielding entirely different lineups in the Premier League and European competitions. Despite this strategy, it appears that players like Veiga and Nkunku are dissatisfied with their involvement in Europe’s third-tier competition.

However, Veiga's potential departure could complicate matters for the club. Chilwell has fallen out of favour under Maresca, and the club are exploring ways to offload the Englishman.

If both leave, Maresca’s team could find themselves in a precarious position, relying heavily on Cucurella unless they reinvest in the transfer market.

This situation highlights a recurring issue at Stamford Bridge: signing numerous players for already well-covered positions inevitably limiting playing time, creating dissatisfaction. Addressing this imbalance will be one of Maresca's key challenges moving forward.

In other news, this player is set to leave Chelsea this month amid growing interest from Premier League clubs.
