Report: £30m striker is now one of Arne Slot's priority targets for Liverpool, he plays like Bobby Firmino

Arne Slot has taken Liverpool to a whole new level since he replaced Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds were already a great side under the German, but they were in a tight three-horse race for the Premier League title in the 2023/24 season.
Slot, however, seems to be running away with it on his own this time. Liverpool are seven points clear at the top of the league table and also have a game in hand. They are also the only club to have won every single game in the Champions League this term.
All eyes are on the pitch, but Liverpool haven’t stopped working on transfers behind the scenes. They are now keen to sign a rival Premier League player.
Liverpool make Joao Pedro one of their top transfer targets
Joao Pedro has been one of the most impressive players in the Premier League this season.
The Brazilian has had his injury troubles this term, but despite that, he has scored four goals and provided three assists in nine games.
Brighton signed Pedro for around £30 million in the summer of 2023 (Guardian), and he has proved to be worth every penny so far. However, the Seagulls are at risk of losing him.
UOL reveal that Liverpool have made Pedro one of their priority targets next summer. They are so keen to sign him that they intend to begin talks as early as January.
The report claims that Liverpool havebeen tracking Pedro for five years, since he joined Watford. They really like what they see.
It has also been claimed that Pedro fits the profile that Slot is seeking – a false nine who can score goals as well as drop deep to help build up play.
It remains to be seen how much Brighton will demand for Pedro if Liverpool come calling in 2025.
Joao Pedro plays like Liverpool icon Roberto Firmino
Roberto Firmino was one of Liverpool’s best players under Klopp.
The Brazilian was a fan favourite at Anfield. He never scored as many goals as Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah, but he made both of them better.
Slot’s preference, according to UOL, is a false nine instead of an out-and-out striker.
That is probably why Liverpool are targeting Pedro, who has been compared to Firmino already thanks to his style of play and versatility in attack.
Darwin Nunez is really struggling at Liverpool right now. The Reds could be forced to move him on if he doesn’t improve his output. Pedro would be a great option to replace him.
