Report: Arsenal have made 'several enquiries' to sign £70m star who Tottenham wanted last year

Arsenal will still play four more times before the transfer window closes on February 3rd.
By this point of the month, many Arsenal supporters may have already imagined that Mikel Arteta's forward line would be strengthened, a need that was accelerated after a season-ending injury to Gabriel Jesus.
Reports suggest that the Brazilian could be out for up to nine months, explaining why Arteta needs further support for Kai Havertz up top.
Arsenal will play Jesus' former side Manchester City on February 2nd, and things could be very tense around north London were Arteta's side to lose and also not have secured any new additions by then.
That being said, the Gunners won't just be focusing on signing attacking players right now, there will also be a focus on the club's long-term vision, as seen with Arsenal securing a deal for Martin Zubimendi.
Arsenal seriously interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson
Now, in addition to Zubimendi, Arsenal have firmly set their sights on Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson according to Football Transfers.
Arsenal have made 'several enquiries' regarding the availability of 20-year-old Larsson, who made the switch to the Bundesliga from Sweden in 2023.

Larsson can operate as either a number six or an eight, explaining his appeal to Arteta, and Arsenal want the Sweden international in addition to Zubimendi as part of the club's midfield rebuild.
Frankfurt are selling Omar Marmoush to Man City this month, commanding a huge fee for the Egyptian forward.
And Arsenal will likely be quoted a similar sum to the £70m price tag Premier League sides were told last summer, a figure shared by German outlet BILD at the time.
Tottenham were interested in Larsson, but it seems safe to say that an English side wouldn't go anywhere near that figure for the young midfielder, even given his talent.
Mikel Arteta is planning his midfield rebuild
Of course, it looks increasingly likely that both Thomas Partey and Jorginho will leave the Emirates Stadium once their contracts expire in the summer.
Should that be the case, Arsenal will then embark on a midfield rebuild, one that will be focused around Zubimendi should Arteta land his key target.
Then, a profile like Larsson would be able to compliment Arteta's squad, providing cover in several areas, a role that will likely be similar to that of Mikel Merino in the 2025/26 season.
Merino has been criticised at Arsenal, but it's clear that the Spaniard can offer a lot as number eight once he's fully settled in N5.
It should be an exciting summer for the Gunners, but that doesn't take away from their need to strengthen in the here and now.
