Arsenal have spent the last few transfer windows looking to bolster their squad in their bid to win the Premier League title.

But it has not been a plain sailing start to the season for Mikel Arteta who already sees his Arsenal side sitting four points off the lead.

The Gunners did not exactly invest heavily over the summer with just four players coming in through the doors at London Colney.

Two of those players landed on a loan-basis with Neto and Raheem Sterling signing on a season-long deal.

However, the two permanent signings in Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino have both experienced their own issues in the way of injuries already.

Arsenal did not exactly break the bank in signing these two players but it looks like Arteta and Edu Gaspar may have their eyes on a player who could become the club’s second-biggest signing.

Arsenal eyeing £83m-rated 17-year-old forward

It is already being suggested Sterling will not be at Arsenal next season with his loan deal expiring at the end of the campaign.

Which leaves Arsenal with a big hole to fill on the right side of the attack with Bukayo Saka racking up a lot of minutes.

And currently, it does not look like Arsenal have a player who is capable of filling in for the England international during his time out through injury.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are now monitoring the 17-year-old right-winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP.

The Portuguese talent is believed to be valued in the region of €100m (£83m) already despite not being a regular in the starting XI just yet.

Quenda is, however, playing regularly for Sporting with the majority of his appearances coming off the bench as he works his way into the men’s game.

But this is a talent who has caught the eye of many top sides in Europe with Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid just some of the sides credited with an interest.

What Cristiano Ronaldo said about Geovany Quenda

Quenda made his debut in the Portuguese top flight back in August and has since gone on to make eight appearances in the league.

Having returned an assist in the league, Quenda has also been trusted with two starts in the Champions League against Lille and PSV Eindhoven.

Although he never featured, the 17-year-old was included in Portugal’s Nations League squad to face Scotland earlier in the season.

And Cristiano Ronaldo shared his brief interaction with the Sporting star who is very much following a similar path to the Real Madrid legend.

“I went to my room and saw the new boy, Quenda. I saw that he was uncomfortable,” Ronaldo told the media.

“I’m not saying I’m a father, but an older brother. For some, I could be a father and, as I said, I went through the same thing as them.”
