Report: Arsenal now ready to sell 'fantastic' player for just £10m, talks under way with two suitors

Arsenal are likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming weeks as the club hierarchy seeks to strengthen the squad.

The Gunners have gone from strength to strength under Mikel Arteta in recent years, and are now back among the best in the Premier League.

Arsenal have been in the title race for two years running and will be eager to go all the way in 2024/25.

Outgoings could be on the cards at Arsenal as well as incomings, with a number of players appearing to be surplus to Arteta's requirements.

Now, a player who hasn’t made a competitive Gunners appearance for two years is said to be on the radar of two European clubs.

And according to the report from CaughtOffside, Arsenal are ready to sell him for as little as £10million.

Arsenal place £10m price tag on Nuno Tavares

The player in question is Nuno Tavares, who has spent the last two seasons away from Arsenal on loan.

According to CaughtOffside, the Gunners are hoping to get €12-14million (£10-12million) for the full-back.

The report also claims that Dutch giants Ajax and Italian outfit Lazio have been in talks over Tavares, though they are still at an early stage.

In addition, Tavares is open to leaving Arsenal this summer, added the report.

Although his contract runs until 2025, he’s not expecting much game time at the Emirates.

Tavares likely to leave Arsenal this summer

Tavares has not featured for Arsenal for two years now, and it doesn’t look as though his stints away on loan have convinced Arteta to include him in his plans for next season.

The Portuguese defender has shown glimpses of quality at Arsenal and on loan over the past few years.

For instance, Igor Tudor – who managed Tavares at Marseille – sung the player's praises in 2023.

He said: "Nuno's still a young player but he has fantastic physical capabilities. He's got an outstanding ability to run.

"He could play at Real, at Barcelona, at Man City… he still needs to grow and progress, we talk a lot to him."

However, Tavares simply hasn't kicked on at Arsenal, and so it would be surprising to see him stay at N5 past transfer deadline day.
