Aston Villa are expected to be busy in the summer transfer market ahead of a highly-anticipated 2024/25 campaign.

The Villans finished fourth in the Premier League table to qualify for the Champions League, and they'll need to bolster their ranks to ensure they can handle the extra workload.

At the same time, Villa will need to be mindful of profit and sustainability rules, so incomings will have to be balanced out by outgoings.

Discussions are said to be taking place between Villa and Juventus over a player-plus-cash deal involving Douglas Luiz, Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior.

Even though Villa would be signing a replacement for Luiz in McKennie, it looks as though the Villans are still keeping their options open regarding midfield reinforcements.

Now, according to The Times, Villa have made an approach for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, along with Paris Saint-Germain.

The report claims that the Villans and PSG have enquired about the Goodison Park star, who the Toffees are trying to sell before 30 June for profit and sustainability reasons.

Aston Villa will fancy their chances of signing Amadou Onana

Onana has made a name for himself as one of the Premier League’s best young players, and he would be an amazing acquisition for Villa.

He is an incredibly talented player who stands 6ft 5in tall, is rapid and, at just 22 years of age, he's nowhere near his peak.

Roberto Martinez is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying about Onana in 2022: "He's a strong personality. He never hides, he asks for the ball and he dares.

“He is one of the most talented young players in Europe.”

Onana is reportedly valued at £70million, but with Everton needing to sell in the next two weeks, they may have to settle for a lower fee.

Villa will probably look to sell some players first – talks are said to be ongoing over selling Douglas Luiz and Jhon Duran – before making a move for Onana.

There will no doubt be a lot of interest in him, but considering Villa are playing in the Champions League, they’ll surely fancy their chances.
