Report: Liverpool ahead of Chelsea in bid to sign £50m forward with 21 goal contributions already this season

Liverpool know full well they need to eventually get a replacement for Mohamed Salah and it looks like they could now be winning the race for one of Europe's brightest goal scorers.
The Reds had a quiet summer window and only signed Federico Chiesa in the end as Arne Slot stuck with what he had in the main.
That decision appears to have paid off, with Liverpool sitting top of the table, albeit Gary Neville still believes Arsenal will win the title.
Of course, for Liverpool to keep pace, a new signing of two in January might be on the agenda.
While the Reds have ample options in the final third, with Mohamed Salah yet to sign a new deal and Darwin Nunez struggling for goals, a new forward might be needed.
And according to reports in Germany, Liverpool are leading Chelsea and others in the race for Egyptian forward, Omar Marmoush.
Liverpool ahead of Chelsea in Omar Marmoush race
According to BILD, Marmoush is a wanted man after his electric start to the season in the Bundesliga.
Marmoush has already scored 12 and laid on another nine goals for Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 25-year-old is already known well to Salah having played together at international level.
Indeed, Liverpool have expressed an interest in the striker for some time now, albeit Frankfurt are said to be keen to keep hold of Marmoush or land close to £50m if they do sell.
Furthermore, TBR Football understands that while Liverpool have indeed scouted Marmoush, there’s yet to be any sort of official approach.
Replacing Salah not easy for Liverpool but Marmoush an interesting option
Liverpool know that they can't go on forever with Mo Salah and that essentially, time is running out on his career at Anfield.
The ideal scenario would surely see Liverpool keep Salah for the foreseeable future and at the same time, sign a replacement who can learn off the great man.
Marmoush looks to be more than capable of finding the back of the net regularly and his international link with Salah is an added bonus.
21 goal contributions at this point in the season is quite remarkable and if he's available, then Liverpool would be silly not to look into signing Marmoush.
