Liverpool are set to add a top young talent to their developmental ranks having completed an exciting raid on Chelsea.

The Reds were fairly quiet for most of the transfer window before bursting into life late on.

Liverpool signed goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia before loaning him back to the La Liga side.

Federico Chiesa then arrived from Juventus as Liverpool struck a cut-price deal for the Italian winger.

Arne Slot can be happy with Liverpool's business late into the window and there is a real sense of optimism around Anfield after three straight wins to start the season.

Liverpool complete deal for Chelsea talent

Liverpool will need to mould the squad for Slot and that may take a number of windows in terms of adding to the first-team squad.

The Reds will continue to look for exciting young talents though and now appear to have completed a promising signing.

Reports in July suggested that Liverpool were closing in on Chelsea wonderkid Rio Ngumoha.

It was claimed that Liverpool had broken their wage structure to force through a deal for Ngumoha, seemingly committing to an unprecedented contract for a 16-year-old at ANfield.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Liverpool have finalised all of the formalities to sign Ngumoha.

Every transfer between two Category One academies goes through a five-step investigation process before being signed off.

Liverpool's deal for Ngumoha has now gone through that process and the teenager is set to wrap up his move from Chelsea.

Joe Black on Rio Ngumoha

The teenage winger has really caught the eye for Chelsea's Under-18's and has also turned out for England at Under-16 level.

Liverpool will hope to see Ngumoha become a star in the future, but it's important not to put too much expectation on such young players.

Ngumoha has a burgeoning reputation for a reason though and former Chelsea youth scout Joe Block has praised his talent.

Black has watched Ngumoha's development for 10 years now and believes that he is one of the best young players around right now.

"Another kid that I've had the pleasure of watching his journey, I first met him when he was six and he's now 16, is a kid called Rio at Chelsea," said Black whilst speaking to Rising Ballers.

"I'm sure, if you watch Rising Ballers, I'm sure you know who Rio is. He's one that I think is one of the best," he added.

Liverpool clearly feel a similar way about Ngumoha and will look to help him develop into a first-team player, hot on the heels of Trey Nyoni catching the eye at Anfield.
