Liverpool are considering potential options to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold should the right-back decide his future lies elsewhere.

Alexander-Arnold has yet to sign a new deal with Liverpool and there is persistent speculation surrounding his future, with Real Madrid among the teams keen on him.

Liverpool are also facing similar issues with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah and face big decisions before the end of the season.

It has been suggested that Trent has a preference to stay in Liverpool if possible.

However, according to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are considering potential replacements and that could see them move for Spanish right-back, Juanlu Sanchez.

Liverpool and Arsenal looking at Juanlu Sanchez

According to the report from CaughtOffside, the Reds are among a number of English clubs who are keen on signing Sanchez.

Currently playing for Sevilla, Sanchez starred for Spain as they completed a memorable 2024 by winning Olympic gold in Paris.

However, the defender has yet to sign new terms with Sevilla himself and with his deal running out in 2026, he could be available for around £21m.

Sanchez has played himself into being a regular for the La Liga outfit but could well fancy the challenge of replacing Trent.

Arsenal and West Ham are also believed to be keen on Sanchez and have had scouts watch him this season.

Liverpool need to plan ahead

Liverpool find themselves in an odd scenario really when it comes to the likes of Trent, Van Dijk and Salah.

Right now, they will be calm but behind the scenes, work will surely be underway to bring in replacements for those three if they do leave.

Replacing a player Alexander-Arnold is nigh on impossible really and while Connor Bradley has shown promise, the Reds will need more.

Sanchez, then, could be a smart long-term option for Arne Slot’s side.
