Report: Liverpool face competition from Chelsea to sign 'exceptional' £59m Brazil international

The Merseysiders are facing competition from Chelsea for the signature of a highly-rated player on the continent, according to a recent report.

The Arne Slot era is underway and he’ll be eager to make his own imprint on the squad following Jurgen Klopp’s departure.

Liverpool are perhaps three or four top-level additions from bridging the gap on title-winners Manchester City, so there’s plenty of work to be down in the window.

With that said, they’ve made contact to sign a Brazil international but face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Liverpool face competition from Chelsea for Gleison Bremer

According to Tutto Juve, Liverpool are facing competition from Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich for the signature of Gleison Bremer this summer.

The Reds have made contact with Juve and have asked for further information about the Brazil international.

Juve are demanding around £59m to sanction a sale as they remain in a strong position to keep ahold of him.

Bremer is under contract until 2028 and there has been no indication that he’d be willing to leave the Turin titans but he will hold talks with his agent.

Liverpool won’t want a bidding war

With three other clubs interested in Bremer, there’s a good chance a bidding war could arise and Liverpool won’t want to be part of it.

Especially with Chelsea in the race, the price tag could quickly drive up if the quartet are all battling for his signature.

The ‘exceptional’ Brazil international has just exited at the quarter-final stage of the Copa America with Brazil, so a deal could now accelerate in the coming week.

Liverpool need to act quickly and steal a march over rival suitors, who could be focusing on other deals at this stage.
