Liverpool had a pretty quiet summer transfer window.

The Reds made two additions in Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has returned to Valencia on a season-long loan.

Arne Slot tried to sign Martin Zubimendi but the Spaniard opted to stay put at Real Sociedad – which has actually resulted in the rebirth of Ryan Gravenberch.

Club chiefs are already plotting their Janaury business and with that said, it’s just come to light that Liverpool have made contact to sign a player in Italy.

Liverpool have made contact to sign Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar

According to AS Roma Live, Liverpool have made contact to sign Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar ahead of the January transfer window.

Svilar has been in fine form for the Serie A giants this season, conceding just seven goals in nine appearances.

The 25-year-old is also attracting interest from Newcastle United whilst Manchester City have previously looked at him.

The report claims both Allison and Nick Pope could leave at the end of the season, so behind the scenes chiefs are drawing up a list of potential successors.

Svilar was once labelled ‘phenomenal’ by his former manager Jose Mourinho, per Molineux News.

Roma want £33m for Mile Svilar

It’s understood Roma are demanding offers of around £33m for Svilar, which seems well above what Liverpool would be willing to pay since they’ve just outlaid a similar amount on Mamardashvili.

In fact, it’d be really surprising if Liverpool even are looking to sign Svilar, perhaps it’s just his agent trying to secure him a big move.

Anyhow, time will tell.
