Report: Mikel Arteta expected to hand Arsenal opportunity to £26m player who is 'not very happy'

Arsenal have made the perfect start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign having won both of their opening games.

Mikel Arteta‘s focus will not be on the remaining days of the transfer window with Arsenal‘s third game on the horizon.

The Gunners will be getting the third game week underway when Brighton & Hove Albion visit the Emirates in Saturday’s early kick off.

Arteta will have his second signing of the summer at his disposal with Arsenal having now announced the signing of Mikel Merino.

And there will be another player hoping for a start against the Seagulls having been left unhappy in north London of late.

Mikel Arteta set to start unhappy £26m player vs Brighton

With a few days remaining in the market, Arsenal are now looking to sign a new forward as their third addition of the window.

But there is already one attacker at the Emirates who has been left frustrated with his lack of opportunities from the starting XI.

And it seems as if Leandro Trossard could now be set to be placed in the Arsenal starting XI for the game on Saturday afternoon.

According to Charles Watts, Trossard is expected to be in from the start on the weekend against the Seagulls as he’s been left unhappy on the bench.

“He's clearly not very happy at starting games on the bench. You could see there was a fair bit of pent up frustration during his celebration and that is understandable,” he said in the Daily Briefing.

“He's an excellent player and is undoubtedly Arsenal's best finisher. I do think he will start against Brighton this weekend, but you can see why Arteta likes to bring him off the bench because his record as a substitute is so good.”

Leandro Trossard impressed in Aston Villa cameo

Having started from the bench, the Belgian did not take any time at all to make his introduction to the game at Villa Park.

With his first touch of the game, Trossard opened the scoring and his celebrations said it all.

Clearly, the £26m forward feels as if he deserves more regular starts with Gabriel Martinelli not providing the same returns as he is doing.

Arteta was left seriously impressed by Trossard following Arsenal’s win over Villa and it now appears as if the 29-year-old is going to be rewarded with a start against his former side.
