Arsenal wanted Williams in the summer, and it appears as though that interest hasn't waned.

This report states that Williams has a release clause of £50m, but a deal wouldn't be easy.

Williams is open to a Premier League move, but the player's wages would be very expensive.

Indeed, this report claims that Williams would want in excess of £300,000-week to sign for Arsenal, placing him firmly among the club's top earners.

Whether or not Arsenal would be willing to pay Williams such a sum is unclear, but given that he's Arteta's top target, Arsenal may well push the boat out.

Mikel Arteta is clearly a big fan of Williams, but would this be a worthwhile signing for Arsenal?

Williams was incredible at Euro 2024, but he's followed that tournament up with a string of drab performances for Athletic Club.

Williams has been largely ineffective in La Liga this season, and in this sort of form, he really wouldn't bring much to this Arsenal side.

Of course, players can improve massively when they play in a new team, a new system and a new league, but Williams' performances this season haven't been up to scratch.

That said, Williams's stats looked a lot better last season.

If Williams can rediscover that sort of form, he would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal, but, based on how he's been playing this season, Arsenal may want to think very carefully before they make a move for the Spain international.
