An area of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad where they are quite lightweight is in the centre of defence.

Tottenham’s injured players include Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, who have suffered several fitness issues and are set to be sidelined until next year.

Radu Dragusin’s agent ruled out his exit from Spurs but so far, he is yet to convince that he is the real deal in the Premier League.

Ben Davies, who is currently injured is 31 and a is a natural left-back perhaps looks the best as a central defender when deployed in a back three.

This season, Spurs have shipped 19 goals in the Premier League, as many as Manchester United, who are languishing in 13th place.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that Tottenham back him in the transfer window to help his ongoing project at the club succeed.

It seems like the Lilywhites have highlighted a defender who could strengthen their defence.

Tottenham eyeing Milan Skriniar

La Gazzeta dello Sport have revealed that Tottenham are a “plausible destination” for Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Milan Skriniar.

Atletico Madrid have also been deemed as a possible destination for the Slovakian colossus.

However, a move to the Premier League and especially to Ange Postecoglou’s side is considered the likeliest next step in the 29-year-old’s career so far.

Skriniar has fallen out of favour at PSG, with Luis Enrique seemingly not fancying him whatsoever this season.

The seasoned campaigner has started just four games in Ligue 1 and none in the Champions League, which could suggest that Enrique is ready for the Parisian giants to sanction his sale.

What Antonio Conte once said about Milan Skriniar

In November 2019, Antonio Conte sang Skriniar’s praises after Inter Milan’s 2-1 win against Hellas Verona.

“It wasn't easy. We paid for a counterattack, then we managed to keep calm and clear. The guys were good, even in the second half we defended with a 50-meter pitch behind us.”

“I don't like to praise individuals but today, the three defenders played a monstrous game, from every point of view.”

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham decide to take a punt on Skriniar, who Antonio Conte seems to be a huge admirer of.
