Report: Tottenham now accelerating deal to sign £25m attacker before potential Chelsea hijack

Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to submit a bid for a highly-rated attacker on the continent before Chelsea try to hijack the deal.

Ange Postecoglou enjoyed a productive first year in charge of Tottenham but now the onus will be on returning to the Champions League this term.

To do that, he’ll need backing in the market and the club have already added Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Timo Werner to his ranks.

Now, Postecoglou is keen to add a winger and with that said, it’s thought a bid for one could be submitted imminently.

Tottenham preparing offer for Federico Chiesa

According to Calcio Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an offer to sign Juventus wide player Federico Chiesa.

The 51-cap Italy international, who is out of contract next summer, is thought to be available for just £25m, putting a number of clubs on red alert.

Chelsea are monitoring his situation and as such Tottenham are keen to accelerate the deal to avoid a potential hijack.

It’s not yet known how much Spurs are planning to bid but there is a suggestion that an agreement could be reached for much less than his initial asking price, perhaps even as low as £16m.

Federico Chiesa statistics

Chiesa, who featured at Euro 2024, enjoyed a pretty productive season last term, netting 10 times whilst laying on three assists.

The 26-year-old operated in a number of different positions across the forward line, plying his trade off both flanks and even as a centre-forward – evincing his terrific versatility.

That’s a trait Postecoglou is eager to add to his squad, particularly up front, so it seems Chiesa is the ideal fit.

In other news, Jamie O’Hara really wants Tottenham to sign £80m Man United player.
