West Ham United have an opportunity to sign a player from Chelsea this summer.

The Hammers have been very active in this transfer window. They have already brought in Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for big money.

Wes Fodderingham has joined the club too on a free transfer.

The Irons, however, are not expected to stop there – new boss Julen Lopetegui will want to bring in a few more players, and they now have the chance to sign someone from Chelsea.

Let us tell you the latest on the situation.

West Ham offered chance to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea

This is a really exciting time for West Ham fans.

David Moyes did a lot for the club during his time there, but he will admit that his style of football was not the most exciting to watch.

Now under Lopetegui, Irons supporters could expect some attractive football next season, and bringing in talented players always helps.

After Guilherme, West Ham are scouring the market for opportunities, and they could now sign Chalobah from Chelsea in the coming days.

The Times reveal that Chelsea want to sell the talented defender this summer, and he has been offered to West Ham United.

The Irons’ stance is unclear at the moment, but with Angelo Ogbonna not getting any younger and Thilo Kehrer already gone, they do need a new defender.

We think Chalobah, at the right price, would be a great option for West Ham this summer.

What Rio Ferdinand has said about Chalobah

Chalobah has always been an excellent defender.

The Englishman, for whatever reason, played less than 1000 minutes of football in the Premier League at Chelsea last season. He wasn’t bad at all in the games that he played.

Chalobah has produced several exceptional performances for Chelsea over the years, but the one that springs to our mind was his display against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup.

The defender started next to now-West-Ham-star Kurt Zouma that night, and had a solid game. Rio Ferdinand even branded his performance as ‘unbelievable’.

Speaking on FIVE, the Manchester United legend said: “The big thing for me is Trevoh Chalobah. I watched him in the Super Cup game the other day with BT in Belfast.

“Massively impressed with him, the way he defended. He had three or four big moments defensively where he pulled the hat out of the bag, it was unbelievable."

Chalobah is still only 24, and if West Ham can sign him, we think he could become a top defender for them for the years to come.
