Liverpool have already turned their attention towards January as one player in particular is being talked about behind the scenes at Liverpool.

Ryan Gravenberch has been the preferred option for Slot in the number 6 role despite Liverpool having Wataru Endo at his disposal.

There’s no reason to change things at this moment in time as the Dutchman has protected the defence perfectly, with the Reds yet to even concede a goal in the Premier League.

Martin Zubimendi came close to joining Liverpool in the summer but rejected their advances at the last second.

However, Fabrizio Romano says Arne Slot could move for the midfielder again in the future.

And, Slot’s stance on a potential future move for the midfielder has now been revealed…

Liverpool already have one eye on the future having signed Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea.

The likes of Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah have already been used this season, so it’s clear to see that allowing the youngsters to develop is something that the club believe in.

However, it looks as if the Reds have their eye on a slightly more developed player.

According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool are hoping to resurrect a move for Martin Zubimendi.

It’s understood that Slot has joined key decision-makers behind the scenes in maintaining a belief that he would make the Dutch tactician’s squad stronger.

Who else could Liverpool sign?

Liverpool have scouted Adam Wharton already this season as the Englishman continues to thrive after his move to the Premier League.

As a younger player who already seems to have settled to life in the top-flight, perhaps Wharton would be a more sensible option for the Reds to move for.

However, Zubimendi has played at a higher level. He starred in the Euros for Spain after Rodri’s injury and continues to dominate in La Liga.

After joining Crystal Palace for £22 million you would have to think that Wharton has at least doubled his price tag with his performances.

Zubimendi is worth around £51 million and that price could increase if he continues to thrive, so that’s another aspect that the Reds need to think about.
