Report: What Arsenal will have to do if they want to sign Mohamed Kudus from West Ham

Arsenal are interested in signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United in January.
The Gunners have had a difficult season so far. They have dropped points in eight of their first 16 games and are already five points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, despite playing a game more.
Arsenal have a mountain to climb now if they want to win the title. They will need help in the January transfer window, and Kudus is a target.
However, a move to sign the versatile West Ham United attacker is not a straightforward one.
One thing needs to happen before Arsenal can sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham
Arsenal have been interested in signing Kudus for a long, long time.
The Ghanaian was a target for the North Londoners since when he was at Ajax. Arsenal would’ve signed Kudus then if it weren’t for FFP restrictions in 2023 – that allowed West Ham United to get him.
Arsenal’s interest in the 24-year-old has not gone anywhere.
TBR Football recently revealed that Arsenal are keen to sign Kudus in January if West Ham put him up for sale. Newcastle United are interested in him too.
Now, talkSPORT claim that one thing needs to happen before the Gunners can even think about signing Kudus in the winter window.
The report claims that Arsenal will have to ‘sell players to fund a move for Kudus’ in January.
Leandro Trossard’s name has been highlighted because he was of interest to clubs in Saudi Arabia last summer. However, it is unclear if they will return for him at the turn of the year.
The one positive for Arsenal is that the Irons are said to be open to cashing in on Kudus once the window opens in January.
Does Mohammed Kudus have a release clause and can Arsenal trigger it in January?
West Ham signed Mohammed Kudus in a deal worth at least £38 million in 2023.
The 24-year-old has shown that he can deliver in the Premier League, and the Irons will surely demand a big fee to let him go.
TalkSPORT claim that Kudus has a release clause in his contract worth £85 million. However, that only becomes active in the summer transfer window.
If Mikel Arteta wants to sign him in January, the report says he will have to cough up a similarly hefty sum.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal can cash in on one of their own players in order to bring the West Ham star to the Emirates Stadium.
