Aston Villa kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign with a dream 3-0 win against Young Boys, with Ollie Watkins once again in top form.

The England international assisted Jacob Ramsey for Villa’s second goal of the night as VAR saw Watkins have a goal ruled out in the opening half, with Unai Emery’s side dominant in the Swiss capital.

The one low point of the game, though, was Watkins coming off with a suspected ankle injury 60 minutes in, with TV cameras picking up the striker with an ice-pack, a worrying sign ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Wolves.

Yet Villa sources are seemingly relaxed about Watkins’ potential injury scare.

Watkins set to be fit for Aston Villa to face Wolves

According to GiveMeSport, Watkins is in line to feature for the Villians this weekend against Wolves, with Villa sources not too worried about the striker’s fitness despite the scenes at the Wankdorf Stadium on Tuesday.

With three wins from four Premier League games, Villa have started the new season in fantastic form once again, with last night’s win in Switzerland a true testament as to how far Emery has taken this side in recent years.

And another big win could be on the cards this weekend with Watkins set to be fit enough to play for Villa against Wolves, where a win could take the Villa Park side into the top-four if other results go their way.

Indeed, Watkins being cleared to play is huge for Villa’s chances of a strong start to the new season, and the attacker will be motivated to get his name on the scoresheet having missed out against Young Boys this week.

Watkins will want to fire Villa to Europe again this season

Watkins is proving to be one of Villa’s best signings in recent memory with the striker getting better with age and seemingly improving with every passing season playing under Emery.

And Watkins will be determined to fire Villa back into Europe this season with the Villians already starting their Champions League campaign with a dream result against Young Boys.

Indeed, Watkins is one of the best attackers in the Premier League and a striker that most clubs in Europe would love to have on their books, and the forward will be key for Villa this year in their quest to once again finish in the top-four.
