Arsenal and Liverpool face off this weekend in a mammoth clash that could have major implications on the title race.

Liverpool currently top the table ahead of Manchester City while it is Arsenal who find themselves lagging behind after last week’s loss at Bournemouth.

Still, a win for Arsenal will see them get right back into the mix and with question marks over whether City will be docked points or not this season, this game has the feel of a big title clash.

Of course, nobody quite knows which way those charges will go but according to The Independent, the whole situation has had an impact on all three clubs involved here at board level.

Indeed, so much so, that Liverpool insiders are believed to have even been in contact with Arsenal chiefs after the 2-2 draw between Arsenal and City last month.

Liverpool insiders send messages to Arsenal staff after Man City draw

According to the report from the Independent, there is a feeling that both Arsenal and Liverpool are on the same side when it comes to what might happen to City in the courtroom.

It’s claimed that that has led to Arsenal having a seriously fractured relationship with City at board level and that’s something Liverpool insiders can attest to.

It’s suggested that messages were exchanged between Arsenal and Liverpool higher-ups after the 2-2 draw in September.

Furthermore, there are suggestions that Arsenal’s relationship with City has deteriorated to the point it is way worse than when Liverpool were challenging Pep Guardiola’s side a few years back.

Three-way title battle is what the Premier League needs

For the most exciting league in the world, seeing Manchester City win four titles in a row is no good for anyone.

Liverpool and Arsenal being in contention, then, could be just what the league needs really.

Sure, Man City deserve credit for continually excelling on the field and ensuring they win those titles.

But five in a row would bring the English game into the realms of the Bundesliga and La Liga, and at the end of the day, nobody wants that.

Arsenal, then, will be desperate to beat Liverpool this weekend and put their own marker down in the race for the top crown.
